چکیده
The objectives of this retrospective cohort study were to determine the association heat stress exposure during transition period with production, health, reproduction, and survival first 90 days postpartum in dairy cows. A total 5,722 Holstein cows (2,324 heifers 3,397 cows) categorized into environmental condition (EC) groups based on average temperature humidity index (THI) as thermoneutral (TN) or (HS) pre (Pre) early (Post) periods TN-TN, TN-HS, HS-TN, HS-HS. In heifers, HS Pre, Post, Pre Post was associated a 3.7-lb/d reduction milk yield compared TN-TN. Postpartum increases 4.4-percentage points incidence retained placenta, 18.1-percentage metritis, 2.0-percentage mastitis, 5.3-percentage pregnancy at AI, an increase 4.5-percentage loss TN. cows, 5.3-lb/d when increased placenta 5.8-percentage within whereas no difference found TN Metritis by 6.3-percentage For per reduced 10.6-percentage Removal from herd exposed Post. These data suggest that is performance losses greater extent than prepartum are vulnerable period.

Interrelationships of Heat Stress and Reproduction in Lactating Dairy Cows
Efficient reproductive performance of lactating dairy cattle in tropical/subtropical and arid environments throughout the world is impacted by a multiplicity of factors such as: the physical environment, socialeconomic status of producers, available nutrients, adaptability and genetic composition of cattle, intensive or extensive management systems, and available reproductive technology. Season...
متن کاملrelationships between trace elements, oxidative stress and subclinical ketosis during transition period in dairy cows
the possible relationships between trace elements, oxidative stress and subclinical ketosis during the transition period were evaluated in dairy cows. blood samples were obtained by jugular venipuncture at four times of the transition period: 3 weeks and 1 week before and 1 week and 3 weeks after calving. the highest concentrations of malondialdehyde (mda) and betahydroxybutyrate (bhb) were obs...
متن کاملOxidative Stress and Antioxidant Status during Transition Period in Dairy Cows
The study was conducted on 20 Holstein X Sahiwal cross bred dairy cows, with an average milk production of 2,752±113.79 liters in 284±5.75 days during a single lactation, that were divided in to two groups of 10 animals. We investigated the oxidative stress and antioxidant status during the transition period in dairy cows. In this study, plasma level of MDA was considered as an indicator of lip...
متن کاملHeat stress abatement during the dry period influences metabolic gene expression and improves immune status in the transition period of dairy cows.
Heat stress (HT) and photoperiod affect milk production and immune status of dairy cows. The objective was to evaluate the effects of HT abatement prepartum under controlled photoperiod on hepatic metabolic gene expression and cellular immune function of periparturient Holstein cows (n=21). Cows were dried off 46 d before expected calving date and assigned to treatments by mature equivalent mil...
متن کامل® and the effect on heat stress in dairy cows
One of the great challenges that the dairy industry faces, especially during the summer month, is heat stress. Increase in temperature, together with an increase in humidity, results in a decrease in milk production, feed intake, feed efficiency and even reduced growth rate in heifers (West, 1999). Reproduction and health are also negatively affected by heat stress (St Pierre et al., 2003). Dif...
